I am a Canadian living in Vancouver, British Columbia born to Dutch immigrant parents. I have been an artist since I was a child, always drawing, painting and creating. Growing up learning about the Dutch artists such as Rembrandt and Vermeer to Van Gogh and de Kooning, I felt art was naturally in my blood. This lead me to pursue training and a career in commercial art and graphic design while enjoying fine art in my spare time. Eventually, I became interested in creating abstract art and I began to teach myself on weekends. The freedom to create with paint on large canvasses with out any rules, constraints or guidelines from my 9 to 5 job was a welcome form of therapy and freedom. Now, entering the NFT universe has allowed me to merge the best of both worlds, where I can apply design principles and modern technology with play and intuition to create unique digital abstract artworks.

My avatar is from a photo I took of Michelangelo's David sculpture. In the story David, a young shepherd, defeats the enemy giant Goliath with his sling and a stone. For me, this represents an artist's battle with the need to work in the corporate world in order to make a living, rather than having the freedom to create as an independent artist. Goliath represents the corporate entity constraints being defeated by the artist, David, with Art & NFTS, the sling & stones. This avatar will remain until the battle is done.
